F1 | Villeneuve critical of the Canadian GP: "This show has nothing to do with Formula 1"

In an interview given to the columns of the newspaper Le Journal de Montréal, Jacques Villeneuve heavily criticized the latest Canadian Grand Prix, underlining how the spectacle seen on the track has nothing to do with Formula One. The current Sky Sport commentator has returned to criticize this year's tyres, which in his opinion are guilty of a thermal window that is too narrow. The drivers, in fact, are unable to push the compound all the way down as the teams often encounter operating temperatures that are too high. An unacceptable situation that Villeneuve is unable to justify.

Here are the words of the Canadian: “The race followed the classic pattern seen during this season. The drivers had to manage the tyres, with the latter ending up overheating. There was constant economy throughout the GP and this is not Formula 1. The drivers were unable to do anything. They would start a lap, but then they would have difficulty with the temperatures, ending up doing two or three laps of conserve. An unacceptable situation."

“Also, some really stupid decisions were made this year.”, added Jacques. “The third DRS zone, for example, led the teams to increase the wings, therefore leading the drivers to overtake less. A move that in theory was supposed to help maneuvers on the track, but in reality it had the opposite effect. Spectators pay for the racetrack ticket to see the spectacle, clashes and overtaking, but unfortunately that's not what happens."
