The Frenchman eighth after the first day: "Everything went right"

F1 Test | AlphaTauri, 74 laps and 400 km covered by Gasly on Day 1

Good day at work for Pierre Gasly. The Frenchman took his AT02 to eighth place in the overall standings, after driving for the first four hours today. The AlphaTauri driver completed 74 laps for a total of 400 km travelled. There is satisfaction despite the difficult weather conditions which, especially in the afternoon, significantly affected the work of the teams on the track in Bahrain.

“This morning everything went well with the car – Gasly said. The start of testing was positive and we were able to do a lot of laps, which was our main objective. Having only three days available, it is important to make the most of every moment on the track. We managed to complete the work program and I feel I have a good feeling with the car. Of course, there are areas where we need to improve and work, but that's normal as it's only the first day on track. The conditions today were quite difficult, the Formula 1 cars struggle with all this wind, which is certainly not ideal but it helps to understand how the car works in certain situations, especially since the first race of the season will be right here."
