F1 | Seidl: “Formula 1 is the main objective of the Sauber Group”
"I found a very motivated and ambitious team," reported the German manager
Among the various innovations that have characterized the latest market there are not only movements regarding the driver sector, but also the managerial one. Among the various changes that have revived this last sector is the passage of Andreas Seidl from McLaren, where he was in charge of team principal, a position now held by Andrea Stella, to Clean where he became the new CEO. Seidl will therefore take care of administering the Swiss company, bringing the Hinwil team to the important transition of 2026 where the collaboration with Audi will officially begin with the introduction of the new regulation on power units.
“After my previous experience in Hinwil, coming here immediately felt very natural and it's great to be back. There are many familiar faces, as well as many new ones, and I received a warm welcome – said Seidl, in a Q&A published on the official Sauber website – I found a very motivated and ambitious team, full of talent; a team with a solid foundation, ready to face the challenges and opportunities ahead of us. Right now I'm taking the time to get to know as many people as possible, to build relationships and to understand how the team works. In all my conversations I want to understand where the strengths and weaknesses are in the organization and where the gaps are compared to the teams currently racing ahead of us.”
Seidl speaking about the technical structure of the current Alfa Romeo Racing said: “It plays to the strengths of the people involved and allows me, as CEO, to focus on the strategic future of the Sauber Group and the team. The strong leadership team, trackside and at headquarters, is designed for efficiency and to divide the tasks at hand among several individuals with clear responsibilities.”
The German manager, completing his analysis, added: “Formula 1 is the main focus of the Sauber Group, so obviously I will be involved and I want to contribute with my experience. But I want my leadership team to run things on a day-to-day basis. They are a strong group of people, who I trust, and I will empower them and give them everything they need. I will participate in some races, but the foundations of success in F1 are laid at the factory and that is where my immediate focus will be."
