It is unlikely that Racing Point will present more than one major update on the track during the next 2020 Formula 1 World Championship. According to what was declared by Andy green, technical director of the Anglo-Canadian team, the staff has chosen to move forward the aerodynamic and mechanical steps envisaged on the RP20, so as to also cover the events that will make up the second part of the 2020 calendar.

“We have launched a major revision of our update program for the season which opens on July 5th in Austria,” said Andy green. “Spa and Monza require specific packages, while we will not race in Monaco this year. We will not need an ad-hoc update for the race in the Principality. Furthermore, the fact that starting from July we will begin to carefully evaluate the development of the new car should not be underestimated."

“It's a really strange situation, given that this year's car has only covered very few kilometers on the track,” he added. “Before the start of the season we had planned an upgrade plan starting from Barcelona. Now the "plan" has been postponed by nine weeks and therefore everything will continue until next year".

“At the moment we have no idea what the ninth race of the championship will be, which is why it wouldn't make sense to plan a big aerodynamic step for that round,” he concluded.
