F1 | Mercedes, the new W14 will debut in Monte Carlo

The Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, which should have been held today but was instead canceled due to adverse weather conditions, should have represented an important appointment for several teams in terms of development. Among these was also the Mercedes which had planned important updates in view of the Santerno race.

But these developments, as far as the Stella team is concerned, will be brought to the next GP scheduled in Monte Carlo next weekend. Despite an atypical track, like that of the Principality, the German team will bring an updated version of the W14 as confirmed by a Mercedes spokesperson to Sky Sports F1. Among the innovations that characterize the Brackley car, as recently highlighted by team principal Toto Wolff, will be new bodywork, new floor and new front suspension.

Mercedes' goal is to be able to shorten the gap from Red Bull given the disappointing performances that have accompanied the German car over the last year and a half, with the "zero-sidepod" concept which has not given the desired results. While awaiting the track debut of the B version of the W14, Mercedes has made important changes to its organization chart in recent weeks: James Allison has returned to the role of technical director, taking the place of Mike Elliott, with the latter having the reverse path becoming chief technical officer.
