F1 | McLaren, Ricciardo: “Ferrari was faster than us”

Good performance for Daniel Ricciardo, who took sixth place under the checkered flag in Barcelona. In a weekend where McLaren suffered much more than expected, the Australian managed to complete an excellent race and also managed to resist Sainz's constant attacks at the end, while he was unable to do anything about Perez's return. The MCL35M didn't seem to be in great shape at Montmelò, and the former Red Bull driver tried to patch up the first really difficult weekend for the Woking team.

“It was a good weekend – Ricciardo admitted. I would say the best weekend ever since I've been at McLaren, I feel like I've gotten the most out of the car. I defended the whole time: I managed to recover a few positions at the start and I think those cars were faster than me. It means that the pace was high and we had to push hard, but I learned a lot of good things from the behavior of the car. We are obviously competitive for the points, but we need something more. Ferrari was better than us today, and of course Red Bull is very fast. We know we still have work to do, but all in all it was a good weekend. The team made good strategic calls in the pits, we got the most out of it."
