Formula 1 | Barcelona reiterates: "We are negotiating for the renewal"

With yesterday's announcement the formula 1 has formalized the arrival of Madrid in the calendar starting from 2026, and it seems that the Spanish Grand Prix will therefore change location. There is one however: a contract with Barcelona and the circuit is still foreseen in that season Montmelo to host the race, and this means that one of the two events will necessarily have to change its name. Everything suggests that it will be Barcelona, maybe as well as in MotoGP it will be called Catalan GP, But that is not all: Pere Aragonès, president of the Generalitat, the administrative-institutional system for the Catalan government has once again reiterated its intention to renew the agreement beyond 2026, all after yesterday's official announcement. It is said that the new agreement could be valid for five years starting from 2027.

“With reference to the announcement of the Madrid tender, we in Catalonia work for Catalonia – Aragonès said. Beyond the fact that the Formula 1 organization can make agreements with other cities, we continue to work to extend the agreement beyond 2026. The relationships are excellent, we are moving forward, and in this sense we are concerned about improving the opportunities of Catalonia, without comparing ourselves with anyone, building our own references".
