In an interview with a Japanese media, Yusuke Hasegawa confirmed that Fernando Alonso will take to the track in Baku with some changes to the power unit. According to what was stated by the Honda manager, McLaren will have the possibility of using some updates in Azerbaijan, but it is not yet clear whether the entire package called "spec 3" will be fitted (it was supposed to arrive in Canada already. ed.) or a simple intermediate specification to evaluate its effects in the medium term.
Here are Hasegawa's words: “We will bring innovations relating to combustion to Azerbaijan. We don't yet know if we will bring the entire package or intermediate new features, but there will be some new features that will help the riders. The situation is very complicated and we are doing our utmost to get out of this terribly difficult situation."
