F1 | Japanese GP, following the evolution of typhoon Hagibis

Bad weather could slow down the normal progress of the Suzuka event, where the Japanese Grand Prix weekend will start from tomorrow.

In fact, on Saturday, the day on which the third free practice session and qualifying will take place, Typhoon Hagibis is expected on the Japanese coast - as forecast - and has so far produced torrential rain and gusts of wind that have even exceeded 230 kilometers per hour.

"The FIA, Formula 1, Suzuka Circuit and the Japanese Automobile Federation are closely monitoring Typhoon Hagibis and its potential impact on the 1 Formula 2019 Japanese Grand Prix. Every effort is being made to minimize disruption to the Formula 1 programme, however the safety of fans, drivers and everyone at the Suzuka Circuit remains the top priority. All parties will continue to monitor the situation and will provide further updates in due course”, the note published on the Federation and Formula1.com website.

If qualifying were not to take place on Saturday, it would be moved to Sunday morning before the GP as happened in 2004 and 2010.
