F1 | McLaren, Norris' confidence: “This year we will be able to get a victory”

Lando Norris is confident. In fact, the Englishman believes that McLaren can challenge Red Bull for victory and get the better of the Milton Keynes team at least in one of the world championship stages that make up the 2024 calendar. But at the same time, the standard bearer from Woking is aware that in order to move up on the top step of the podium particular conditions must exist that allow the MCL38 to compete on equal terms with the RB20.

The last round held in China highlighted McLaren which, on the Shanghai track, managed to achieve an excellent second place with Norris who took advantage of the Safety Car's entry to get the better of Sergio Perez's Red Bull. A solid performance from McLaren, which was the second force on the track behind the unapproachable Max Verstappen.

“I've already said it, I don't need any more confidence – Norris told Sky Sports F1 – At the beginning of the year I said that we can fight against Red Bull and that this year we will be able to get a victory” .

However, the Englishman, continuing his speech, specified: “It won't be easy. I don't think it will come straight away, but there will be the right day, the right time, good conditions, things that suit our car a little bit more: I have 100% trust in the team and I have faith in my ability to be able to do it. ”.

Norris then added: “But it has to be the right place, the right time. I don't think we're close enough at the moment. But I want to believe it."
