F1 | AlphaTauri, Yuki Tsunoda: “I need a clean weekend”
“It's not the position I wanted” added the Japanese, out of the points together with de Vries
Unlucky race for Yuki tsunoda, who in a confusion of strategies only managed to scrape together fourteenth position. The Japanese opts for an early pit stop, but after losing time behind the Haas di Kevin Magnussen, the wall of Faenza he upsets his plans, opting for the second stop. The pit takes longer than expected and the Japanese's few chances are therefore wasted in a matter of seconds.
“We used an aggressive strategy which worked until the intervention of the Virtual Safety Car and our pace was really good. The timing didn't work in our favor and we weren't able to gain as much as we would have liked and then struggled with the pace. In general the performance of our car was good, although not at the level of Barcelona, which means that we were not able to recover enough - admitted the Japanese - it is not the position I wanted to get to, but I did some good things. overtaking and it was an opportunity to learn something more. To maximize our chances of scoring points I need a clean race weekend, with a better qualifying position."
Unlucky race also for Nyck de Vries, engaged in a fight with Magnussen himself, so much so that he risked retirement when the two got stuck in an escape route. In the end he crossed the finish line last, in eighteenth position
“Until the fight with Kevin (Magnussen) it was a decent race. We fought hard, but I think we both missed the braking point and, due to the poor grip, I locked the wheels and went straight. Compared to previous race weekends, we were not fast and competitive enough, so we need to understand why and understand how to improve. In any case, at any point on the track there were cars in the DRS zone and it was impossible to overtake. The points today were difficult, but if we had qualified further ahead we could still have achieved a better result."
