F1 | AlphaTauri, Tsunoda admits: “We lack speed on the straight”

More difficulties at home Alpha Tauri. In Shootout Qualifying Yuki tsunoda he manages to get to Q2, but even in this session the race direction causes carnage of times due to the track limits, and the Japanese once again becomes a victim of the carousel of times. In the Sprint he was therefore forced to start from thirteenth position, but in the race he dropped to sixteenth, far from the points zone.

“I don't know what to say about today's Shootout, we weren't fast enough. I tried to maximize every opportunity, but our lap time was canceled once again due to a millimeter issue, so I was obviously frustrated – explained Yuki – regarding the Sprint race, we only finished in P16. The track conditions were difficult and we couldn't do much today. I wasn't able to get the most out of our car because we especially lack speed on the straight. The pace on the intermediates was good, but we were quite slow when it dried out. We have already experienced similar limits in other circuits, so let's take advantage of past experiences, reset everything and focus on tomorrow. The group is still compact, so we always need to be perfect and then, you never know what can happen."

Also Nyck de Vries he managed to reach Q2 in the Shootout, but like his teammate, he lost positions in the race, finishing only seventeenth.

“The start of Sprint qualifying was good; the car looked better than yesterday, but the end of SQ2 was very unfortunate. There was a lot of traffic towards the last corner and it created a bit of confusion, so we missed the last attempt to move to SQ3. As for this afternoon's Sprint, no one had had the chance to use wet tires up to that point, so it was a bit difficult for everyone to experiment in those conditions. I got off to a bad start, I skated a lot and I had to deal with high degradation which also showed up earlier than expected on the intermediate tyres. Considering this, maybe we could have stopped a lap earlier, but I think in the end we made the right decision. I felt I had good pace, but I got stuck behind Logan sargeant which was very fast on the straight. The team is united and we try to get the most out of it, but this weekend we are not competitive enough."
