Sauber half satisfied in Spain
Gutierrez finishes the GP 11th, Hulkenberg 15th
“We knew it would be a difficult race today. The start went well and until the accident in the pitlane, it was a pretty good Grand Prix."
So does the pilot Sauber Nico Hulkenberg comments on 15th place in the Spanish GP.
“We planned for a race with three pit stops but then we had to change to four. Furthermore, the accident ruined our race - goes on -. Obviously times were not good, but we are a team, so we have to reflect on what happened and make sure it doesn't happen again. Overall the car was still quite difficult to drive and I think we still have some work to do.”
Better result on the Catalan circuit for Esteban Gutierrez who finished the Grand Prix 11th, despite having also found himself further ahead in the race.
“I focused on how to get the most out of the car today, and it was important to get a result like this for me and for the team – says the Mexican pilot -. The team gave me the patience and the tools to improve as a driver and this is what I was able to get from the car."
“The race was tough and tire management was critical. At the start of the race I was surprised at how much I could get out of the tyres. The last two stints were a little more difficult, but we still made a step forward.", he concludes.
