Mateschitz: “Webber can race freely against Vettel”

No more team orders will be imposed at Red Bull

Mateschitz: “Webber can race freely against Vettel”

Dietrich Mateschitz has confirmed that Red Bull drivers will no longer be restricted by team orders in 2013.

The Austrian was said to be furious over Malaysia's Multi-21 controversy and during a phone call with Niki Lauda he did not rule out Red Bull withdrawing from F1.

Helmut Marko later denied this rumor by suggesting that Lauda misinterpreted Mateschitz's comments.

But the owner of the energy drink company clarified: “Vettel and Webber can race freely until the end of the season. The motto is 'beat me if you can'” we read in the Krone newspaper.

Mateschitz did not rule out a renewal of Webber's contract with Red Bull, although the Australian seems inclined to accept Porsche's offer to race at Le Mans: “It all depends on Webber. How fast he will be and how many offers he will have."
