Vergne, Gutierrez or Hulkenberg for the future of Haas F1
"We are looking for profiles of absolute depth"
The Haas team continues to prepare for its debut in the 2016 Formula One championship. In an interview given during the presentation of the outfits at the Portuguese headquarters in Porto, Gene Haas explained that the American team is evaluating three specific profiles for the team's future in the Circus. Negotiation work is proceeding quickly and Gunther Steiner's goal is to create a young line-up with a good level of experience. As previously announced in other interviews, the partnership with Ferrari will play a fundamental role in the choice of drivers and so the names of Esteban Gutierrez and Jean-Eric Vergne come up.
Precisely in this sense, Haas underlined that the two drivers from the Scuderia di Maranello are a valid and concrete option for the future of the team. Furthermore, some German media report a real interest on the part of the American manager towards Nico Hulkenberg, even if this is a much more complicated path to follow. Negotiations are currently underway and important news is expected immediately after the summer break.
Here are the words of Gene Haas: “We have a list of drivers that we are evaluating. There are some profiles interested in our project and there could be important news in this regard in the coming weeks. We have a good commercial and technical partnership with Ferrari and their reserve drivers are certainly an important opportunity for our structure. They have talent and a lot of experience in Formula One, which is a fundamental factor for us."
“However, we also evaluate other drivers who are starters in this championship, but their position depends on the team they belong to. I can only tell you that we will make the best choice for the growth of the team." he concluded.
