Today was a troubled day for McLaren-Renault. Conditioned by various technical problems, of an electrical nature, which forced the mechanics to replace the battery of the MCL 33, and hydraulic, the Woking team was the one that completed the fewest laps: 38 with Stoffel Vandoorne.
The Belgian set his best performance, which earned him the 12th fastest time, in 1'21"946 using supersoft tyres.
Speaking about day 1 of the second four days of testing, the young Belgian declared: “We had several problems and we had to work on them so that they don't happen again tomorrow. The type of problem encountered was not particularly serious, but it took some time to resolve. The conditions in the afternoon were not optimal due to the wind".
Tomorrow Vandoorne will hand over the wheel of McLaren to Fernando Alonso.
