Sutil, there is life after Formula 1: “I want to race the 24 Hours of Le Mans”
The German driver is thinking about other opportunities away from F1
With a practically complete starting grid for the 2015 Formula 1 World Championship, apart from the unknowns Marussia and Caterham, Adrian Sutil, who is not discarding another year as a spectator, is trying to find an alternative accommodation to Formula 1, perhaps in the Endurance championship. The German, who had already been left stranded in 2012 following Lotus co-owner Eric Lux's injury in a club, managed to return to Formula 1 in Force India the following season, before moving to Sauber just a year later. . Thanks to the performance below expectations of the Swiss single-seater and the competition from paying drivers, Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nars got the better of Sutil who lost his seat.
“It's not just Formula 1. There are a lot of opportunities in categories that are really interesting – underlined the German driver to Autosport – If I don't drive next year, I'll be the same a happy man. One of the things I want to do is race the 24 Hours of Le Mans and I'm seeing some drivers, former Formula 1 drivers, who have taken this step and are very happy." Yet, for Sutil the doors of Formula 1 may not close completely: "If Haas truly debuts in the Category in 2016, it could look at this project with a special eye."
At 31, another and possible sabbatical year doesn't scare him: "The year I skipped was fantastic, it was a great time and perhaps for this reason I'm more relaxed compared to other drivers. This experience allowed me to see life from another aspect, you are calmer. Even without Formula 1 we move forward“, He concluded.
