Raikkonen dismisses rumors about Mercedes

Kimi Raikonen has denied rumors that he will join Mercedes in 2010. The Finn's management had previously announced that the driver would have a sabbatical after negotiations with McLaren broke down, and Kimi confirmed this in an interview on Thursday to the official FIA website that a break in 2010, before a probable return in 2010, "seems appropriate".

When asked about his approach to Mercedes GP, the 2007 world champion added: “No, I haven't spoken to Brawn. I think they will have two German drivers now that Mercedes is involved.”

Also on Thursday, Steve Robertson, Raikkonen's manager, said that the possibility that the driver could reach an agreement with an F1 team for next season could not be ruled out.

The winner of 18 grand prix said: “I enjoyed F1 and I still have ambitions. If I find the right opportunity I would be inclined to return. The door is open. Let's see what the future brings."
