In an interview given to some US media, Fernando Alonso spoke about the first IndyCar test on the Barber track, underlining how he had been waiting for this moment for several months. After his experience at the Indy500, in fact, the Spaniard was no longer able to get on board the DW12 (changed compared to two years ago. Ed.), missing out on several useful opportunities to gain knowledge of the category.
From today onwards, therefore, no longer having a commitment to McLaren in Formula 1, the two-time World Champion will be able to dedicate body and soul to learning about the series, preparing down to the smallest detail the assault on the next Indianapolis 500.
