Gene Haas: “Some focused development on the current car, but we'll be thinking about 2017 soon”

Like other mid-table teams, Haas will soon focus on their next car

Gene Haas: “Some focused development on the current car, but we'll be thinking about 2017 soon”

Haas-Ferrari, through owner Gene Haas, lets it be known that the team's greatest efforts will soon be concentrated on the 2017 single-seater. In fact, Haas wants to take advantage of the new regulations to present itself even more competitive at the starting line of the next world, preferring to experience this 2016 as a year of transition. From 2017, in fact, the single-seaters will have wider wings and tires, will be aerodynamically more performing and therefore very different from the current ones.

“We are working on some developments of the current VF-16 - the team owner explained - However, our greatest efforts will soon be directed towards the 2017 project. Next year there will be a radical regulatory change, and we want to be ready, even if this means sacrificing something in terms of competitiveness this year".

This year there will be quite a few teams that will actually abandon their 2016 projects very early to focus on one of those regulatory revolutions that can reserve surprises and mix up the cards on the table. The situation is very different for those who, like Mercedes and Ferrari, are playing for something important; these two teams will be obliged to develop the current cars throughout the season.
