Formula 1 | Todt on Kvyat's return to Toro Rosso: “Daniil is talented and a special athlete”

Speaking to the columns of Autosprint magazine, Nicolas Todt commented on Daniil Kvyat's return to Formula 1 after a season in Ferrari, underlining how the Russian will return to the car with a completely different spirit than in the past.

In fact, over the last year in Maranello, the new Toro Rosso driver has learned to control his emotions, increasing his experience and maturity in the meantime. A clear growth that the Red Bull group wanted to reward by giving him a second opportunity.

It will now be up to the Russian to make the most of it, demonstrating that the failure two years ago was just a very bad mistake.

For Kvyat it was already not easy in 2016 to be relegated from Red Bull to Toro Rosso, and then the following year to leave the scene. In this meantime he did self-criticism, to understand what had happened. And he worked well with the Ferrari simulator”.

On the Russian's return to Formula 1 he added: “This return reminds me of Felipe Massa's return to Sauber in 2004. Two years later he was in Ferrari alongside Michael Schumacher. I don't want to dream too much, but Daniil has talent and is a special athlete, which gives space to his cultural enrichment. He reads Tolstoy and Dostoevsky and is endowed with great intelligence and self-irony."
