F1 | Kvyat, his state of mind when Verstappen took his place at Red Bull

During this period he returned to speaking Daniel Kvyat. The Russian driver, now focused on his career with Lamborghini in endurance races he was interviewed by F1.com, a site in which he told again what he experienced in 2016, when the Red Bull he torpedoed it to put in the car MaxVerstappen, coming from bull rosso, making him do the reverse route. A truly very difficult period for Daniil, who experienced a couple of very difficult seasons also on an emotional level, declaring how he had lost any motivation to continue racing in that period. In a way, the passage of a year in Ferrari, away from the starting grid, it helped him recover his self-esteem and energy.

“Something was happening – Kvyat said. Marko wanted to change drivers, he said that I would have to beat Ricciardo in every race so that I could save my place, and I told him, because I knew that Daniel was not an idiot, but I would do my best, just like him. The first races of 2016 were tough, but there was a clear improvement and the race in China was a demonstration of this, but then came Sochi, and obviously they needed that type of performance."

“They were hard times for me, I had very low motivation when I returned to Toro Rosso, the car was different and behaved differently, then Carlos was hungry and had a good feeling with the car, while I no longer had confidence and want to run, and you can't do anything against him in that situation. Every now and then I gave good performances, but it was certainly not my best season. In 2017 things were a little better, but still not at the level I was hoping for, and with both Red Bull and I drifting apart, it was clear we needed a break. In 2018 I became a Ferrari test driver, I felt good, and I just needed to eat, train and sleep well."
