Ferrari: will the new wing be banned after the Spanish GP?
Ferrari will have to return to a more conventional rear wing after Sunday's Spanish GP. After Friday's free practice in Barcelona, Charlie Whiting admitted that the FIA is considering banning the Italian team's new winger because it is too tall.
The Maranello team is exploiting a gap in the regulation regarding the separators between the elements to actually increase the height of the upper element of the wing.
“It's a very clever interpretation of the rules and we have to decide whether we think it's a good interpretation of the rules,” Whiting said.
According to rumours, the FIA technical delegate will allow Ferrari to use the wing for the rest of the weekend in Spain but will ban the new solution starting from Monaco.
After the admission of "lack of creativity" by the Rossa's technicians, it seems that "the spirit of innovation" is returning to Maranello.
