F1 | Toro Rosso, Albon: “My hero was Schumacher”

The young rookie from the Faenza team was present at the usual press conference that anticipates the race weekend. This weekend will be very important for Formula 1, as the 1000th race will take place.

Regarding this, Alexander Albon talked about the first time he saw a race and his idol:

“My hero was Michael Schumacher, I was always inspired by him and I was crazy about Ferrari. The first time I saw a race live was at Silverstone, I was six years old. There was a competition, you had to guess the top three drivers. I put Michael, Barrichello and Montoya. Even though Barrichello came last that time, in the end they invited me to the Ferrari hospitality, I was able to meet Michael and Rubens, that is something that stayed with me and from then on I remained a big Ferrari fan."

The Thai's debut has been positive in terms of results so far, although the first approach was not the easiest with Toro Rosso:

“I got into the car in Barcelona for the first time, I had to get the right pace. Clearly the cars are so refined that you immediately feel at ease. It's just about finding the right interaction with the team, trying to find that extra performance thanks to the work you do outside the car and which depends on experience. I spend a lot with Daniil, I listen a lot to the way he communicates with the team and this helps me a lot. For now it's going well, the simulations also help a lot."

For the 1000th race, Albon wanted to change the livery of his helmet:

“I thought it was nice to do a tribute to the history of Formula 1, I'll have some photos with my number.”

And if you had a time machine, what era would you like to go back to?

“I've never thought about it, I'd like to go back to the 50s to find out what sport was like in those times, even though I know it was very dangerous.”
