Albon is involved in an accident with Ricciardo and damages another body, Sargeant out of the points

F1 | Williams, chassis nightmare confirmed at Suzuka too

F1 Williams GP Japan – Chassis nightmare for Williams also at the end of the last Japanese Grand Prix, the fourth round of the 2024 Formula 1 world championship.

Due to a contact on the first lap with Daniel Ricciardo, the Thai - who was not to blame for the incident - damaged the second bodyshell owned by the English team, effectively creating a difficult situation in view of the possible races. It is now clear that the British team will be able to adopt the right countermeasures in view of the next round in China. Logan Sargeant, on the other hand, raced at the back, making several mistakes which did not allow him to compete for the points with Yuki Tsunoda, then 10th, and Nico Hulkenberg.

Albon also damages the second chassis

“I didn't have a good start, but with the hard tires I managed to have good traction exiting Turn 2. Unfortunately, a few meters later, I had contact with Ricciardo which ended both of their races. I'm afraid Daniel didn't see me… overall I'd say it was a difficult moment. I tried to pull away, but I couldn't get out of the way fast enough. It was a difficult and frustrating weekend. The angle of impact, as well as the speed, generated damage that does not help us in this period. We will try to prepare as best we can for the next championship away games, starting with China."

Sargeant compromises a possible fight for the points

“After the second stop I pushed aggressively to catch up with the group in front of me. I hit the curb on the way out, but got stuck and went straight. It was a disappointing moment in a race full of positive aspects. We had a bold strategy with the hard tyres, but in the end we weren't able to achieve the results we all expected or hoped for. If everything had gone as we hoped we would have achieved a different result, but in the end that's how it went."
