Interviewed by the official Formula 1 website, Jean Todt complimented Liberty Media, FIA and the Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation for the staging of the Grand Prix on the Losail track, an event that will enter the calendar from the 2021 season and from 2023, for ten years, will occupy a place in the world championship.

According to what was declared by the President of the FIA, all the parties involved in this project have worked with commitment and dedication for the realization of this important project, facing numerous difficulties, especially from an economic and logistical point of view.

The common commitment, however, allowed Qatar to obtain the much desired slot within the calendar, thus expanding the commitment of the Middle Eastern countries in Formula 1. Losail, we remember, will open the trio of races which will also consist of of appointments in Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi.

“I congratulate Formula 1, the Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation and the authorities for the work carried out in recent weeks,” said the French Manager. “Everyone has worked tirelessly to make the first Grand Prix in Qatar a reality in these difficult times. The Losail International Circuit, which will host the race, has worked closely with us to ensure it is fully prepared for this important occasion. We are very proud of this collective achievement."
