F1 | Domenicali on the calendar: “We are evaluating another race in Bahrain”

In a chat given to the columns of "La Gazzetta dello Sport", Stefano Domenicali spoke about the calendar that teams and drivers will face in the second part of the season, specifying how the most probable hypothesis for the replacement of the Australian Grand Prix is a second race in Bahrain. According to what was declared by the President and CEO of Liberty Media, Formula 1 is discussing with the Sakhir International Circuit for a further round which, presumably, would take place shortly before the double trip between Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi.

As regards Japan, however, the Italian Manager specified that the deadline for any decision in this regard is set for mid-August. By that date the Japanese organizers, in mutual agreement with the company that holds the rights to Formula 1, will have to make a decision on whether the Grand Prix in Suzuka will actually take place in the autumn. A stage, let us remember, that has been missing since the 2019 season.

“There is talk of Qatar replacing the Australian Grand Prix, but in reality the most probable hypothesis is an additional race in Bahrain,” said Stefano Domenicali. “Also I must admit that the commitment in Japan is also under observation, I won't deny it. We hope to confirm everything by mid-August."
