F1 | Ricciardo hits Kvyat from behind: "A strange accident, it was my mistake"

Team Renault failed to score points in today's Azerbaijan GP: Nico Hulkenberg classified 14th while Daniel Ricciardo retired after an accident with Kvyat on lap 31 which caused damage to the rear of his car .

Daniel Ricciardo, who started in tenth position, commented on what happened with Toro Rosso: “It was a strange accident that forced us to retire, but it was my mistake and I feel sorry for the team and for Daniil [Kvyat ],” he told the team's official website. After going long on the overtaking attempt, Daniel remained stationary on the escape route together with Kvyat, but in his haste to get back on track he went backwards, effectively rear-ending the driver who was still stationary: "I was in too much of a hurry and I didn't have thought carefully for a few seconds. The team definitely deserved more today. We had good rhythm and pace with the medium tires and probably could have scored important points,” concluded the Renault driver.
