F1 | Red Bull, Verstappen keeps the attention high: "We weren't perfect at Imola"

Max Verstappen does not want to sit on his laurels, despite the first two rounds of the 2021 world championship giving us a Red Bull in great shape and certainly capable of taking home the full spoils both in Bahrain and in Imola. In Sakhir only a regulatory hiccup took away the victory from the Dutchman, who took back his ill-gotten gains in the Middle East against Santerno. Now there's Portugal, a track appreciated by Max, who keeps his attention high in view of the next challenge against Mercedes and Hamilton.

“It was fantastic to win after losing like that in Bahrain, it's a great satisfaction to arrive in front of everyone in Imola – said Verstappen. We learned some things after what happened in Sakhir and brought home a good victory. The season is very long, so you have to stay focused. We weren't perfect at Imola, so we have to keep pushing. I didn't do my best in qualifying there, but it was nice to be in front of everyone from turn 1; the RB16B is faster, has more grip and better balance. We lost aerodynamic load with this year's surface, but perhaps less than the others, this shows our good step forward."

“The season has started great, it's the best start since I've been at Red Bull, and if we want to fight for the championship we have to continue to progress. I can't wait to get back to Portimao, we got on the podium last year and I think our car has improved a lot, so I'm looking forward to getting out on track and having fun out there. In the first two race weekends we always had the feeling of being able to win, it's a different mentality, we can also fight for pole position. We have been able to learn many things from previous years, I am very happy. It certainly won't be easy, but we will do everything we can to stay in the fight until the end."
