F1 | Red Bull, Perez: double goal in Portugal

Sergio Perez must make up for the bad result in Imola. The Red Bull driver had had an excellent weekend, even qualifying on the front row ahead of Verstappen, but the rain on Sunday messed up his plans, making even trivial mistakes due to lack of knowledge of the regulations which effectively relegated him out of the points zone , also thanks to an error at the Variante Villeneuve after the restart. Checo, however, doesn't give up, after all this new experience is just beginning, and having carried out a great qualifying on the Santerno has certainly given him confidence, now we need to have a regular weekend, without hitches, given that in the first two for for one reason or another there was no shortage of problems for the Mexican from Red Bull.

“I am very satisfied with what we did in qualifying in Imola – Perez explained. I was surprised by this, as it was only my second weekend with Red Bull, I took advantage of everything the car could give me in such a short time. Looking back, adapting quickly to a car gives me a lot of confidence. I'm starting to understand it, and that's the best part. I'm full of motivation: the way we prepare for the race weekend, where we know that if we can get everything right, we could have a real chance of winning the race. Everyone in the team is pushing hard to improve the car in order to maximize the result in every single weekend with both drivers. Last Sunday we missed the opportunity to do a double, but we hope to do it in Portugal."

“In Imola it's difficult to be perfect, especially when you race for a new team, but in Portugal I hope to be up front. We know what the car is capable of, the pace is there, we just need to continue like this and make steps forward. It's just a matter of habit and time in the car: obviously the more you work, the more you lap and take notes, the more you analyze the data with the engineers. All this is done to prepare as much as possible. They are all very good, it takes time to reach the maximum but we hope to do it as soon as possible. Portimao is a nice place to race: it's a new track for Formula 1, we only came here last year and the asphalt was new and with very little grip, so it will be interesting to see how we go this year with an already tested track . It's the first back to back of the season, now the races will arrive quickly so everything becomes more important week after week."
