F1 | Liberty Media, negotiations continue for the renewal of the Barcelona GP: "It's a precious partnership"

At the end of this Grand Prix, negotiations for the renewal of the Barcelona stage, whose contract with the Circus expires at the end of 2019, will continue incessantly. In recent weeks Gonzalo Gobert, FIA representative for Spain, had already heralded the positive intentions of both parties. The boss of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Joan Fontsere, is of the same opinion: “At the moment we are focused on everything that is going well this weekend. We have the Grand Prix guaranteed until 2019 and, once this race is over, we will continue to talk to Liberty" – he told the newspaper El Pais.

Fontsere then explained how the negotiations have changed a lot since the last contract was agreed: "Fernando Alonso had just won his titles, we were competing with Valencia and we also received pressure from a project in Madrid”.

In the meantime, Chase carey, number one in Formula 1, downplayed the impact that the political situation in the Catalonia region will have on the talks: “We are aware of what is happening. But things are complicated everywhere in the world. There are 21 countries and 21 problems. The one with Barcelona is one very valuable partnership for us".
