F1 | Williams celebrates Latifi after Suzuka points: “Exceptional work in difficult conditions”

Nicholas Latifi's good performance in Japan has definitely taken second place, if not third place. The Williams driver, already certain of his farewell at the end of the season, achieved a good ninth place in the very difficult climatic conditions of Suzuka, making great use of the early call to the pits immediately after the Safety Car. For the Canadian the first two points of this season, not an absolute first given the seven achieved in 2021.

“Both Alex and Nicholas started well, gaining positions – said Dave Robson, Williams' head of performance. But then they didn't take advantage of this opportunity due to the very poor visibility in the first sector, and Alex collided with a Haas, damaging the radiator which forced him to retire. After two hours of waiting due to the red flag, Nicky did an exceptional job in difficult conditions: he came in early to switch to the intermediates and this paid off, and despite Russell's overtaking he kept the McLarens behind, managing his car great to score the first points of the season."
