Romain Grosjean ended the Baku GP prematurely by retiring with 13 laps to go due to brake problems. Grosjean was one of five drivers to start the race on the yellow compound from his 14th position on the grid.

“My brake pedal was going to the floor, so for safety reasons we had to retire my car. It was going well before, as we hoped. The first laps with the medium tires were very difficult, then we put on the softs and got back into the fight a bit,” commented Grosjean on the official Haas team website. “I was really pushing the limit. I had a lockup at turn 15, I went straight and had to go a bit on the run-off area. I then tried to stay there, but the rhythm wasn't there. We need to really analyze everything we can. We have to react to be able to fight for a good place in the constructors' championship. I think we have the right car to do it, it's just very annoying to have had this problem. I hope that for Barcelona we can be in a better situation,” concluded the Frenchman
