F1 | Giovinazzi: “An honor to wear the Ferrari uniform”

After a 2016 which saw him as a great protagonist in the GP2 championship at the wheel of the Prema team single-seater, despite the title he only came close to in the final race in Abu Dhabi, which instead went to his teammate Pierre Gasly, Antonio Giovinazzi was rewarded by Ferrari who signed him as third driver for the new season.

Now Giovinazzi will have to work hard to continue his growth path while waiting for the big opportunity: "It is an honor to wear this uniform with this important brand, for me it is the realization of a dream. I'll have to do a lot of work on the simulator, but if the chance to take part in a race comes along, I won't miss it.”, he declared today in an interview with Sky Sport 24.

Among the best weekends held during the past season there is undoubtedly that of Baku, Azerbaijan, where the 23-year-old driver from Martina Franca won both races - the first in GP2 - with the exceptional comeback carried out in the race staged on Sunday morning.

Precisely about the Azerbaijani races, Giovinazzi told an anecdote: "I came from difficult races like those in Barcelona and Monte Carlo. I have a passion for cycling and I was training alone in Padua and I remembered that the church of Sant'Antonio is there. I stopped for about ten minutes in church and the following weekend in Baku I won. I always came back on the weekends before the next races and I must say that it brought me good results".
