F1 | Gasly on his debut in Alpine: “The adaptation was excellent”

Among the drivers present in the Abu Dhabi test who made their personal debut in the team with which they will compete next year is also Pierre Gasly. The Frenchman has in fact covered his first kilometers at the helm of Alpine, where he will team up with Esteban Ocon, taking over from Fernando Alonso.

Gasly, who ended his experience in AlphaTauri on Sunday at Yas Marina by leaving the Red Bull universe, completed 130 laps, finishing in fourth place in the general time classification. The Alpine standard bearer drew a positive assessment of this day at the wheel of the A522.

"The first sensations with this Alpine were good – said Gasly – The first time I took to the track with this car, I have to say it was an extremely quiet morning. Great fit and obviously it feels very different at first - the seat position, the brake and accelerator pedals the way the steering feels so there was a lot to discover. But I have to say that it was very nice and we managed to complete the whole program, so we are really happy".

Gasly, completing his analysis, added: “I think it's really important to go to the track as soon as you have the chance. There are a lot of processes, understanding between me and the engineers and we are still learning a lot from each other. We're just getting started, but I think it's definitely an advantage over having to start next year. The car is definitely going well as demonstrated this season and is definitely promising. I'm really satisfied with the work done so far, after the winter we will have plenty of time to prepare for the next season".
