F1 | McLaren, Piastri on the Abu Dhabi test: “It was a good first day”

Finally Oscar Piastri, after the well-known events that characterized his arrival at McLaren, managed to cover the first kilometers driving the Woking single-seater during the Abu Dhabi test which took place today. The Australian, who will team up with Lando Norris in 2023 and who has taken the place of compatriot Daniel Ricciardo, completed 123 laps at the Yas Marina Circuit, the fastest of which was 1'26"340.

"A good first day with McLaren, I think we learned a lot – declared Piastri at the end of the test – It was great to finally join the team, and thanks to them for a good day on the track. We did a lot of laps and experimented a lot, and that's what we set out to do today. I know well where I need to improve for next year. It was nice to finally get back on track and test the 2022 cars. I can't wait for next year. Next week I will be at the factory to meet the whole team, after which I will take a short break before returning to work with McLaren to prepare for next year".
