Daniil Kvyat is ready to confirm himself in the next Eifel Grand Prix, the eleventh round of this 2020 Formula 1 world championship.

After the points placing in his home Grand Prix, in Sochi, the Russian will try to make the most of the potential of the AT01, with the aim of not only giving himself important points for the championship, but also a possible confirmation in AlphaTauri for the season 2021. The Italian Scuderia, we remember, has not yet made the line-up official for next year.

“Looking back at Russia, I'm quite happy with how my home race went, although it was a bit frustrating to get stuck behind a slower car in the second half of the race,” said Daniil Kvyat. “What matters, however, is that we obtained points for the team and that the race pace was very strong. I had forgotten how great it was to have fans in the stands. And those races behind closed doors made me appreciate the presence of the public even more: before the race I was thrilled to see the crowd and hear them say my name. I have to say that this year I saw the importance of the audience from a new point of view. In general, lately I feel satisfied with my performance which has been constantly growing since Spa. I'm happy with the way my engineers and I have understood what it takes to be competitive. Sochi was another step in the right direction, so for the Nürburgring we intend to continue in the same way."

On the 'Ring he added: “I haven't raced at the Nürburgring for seven years, since I was in GP3. It's a classic, old-school track, with a lot of history behind it: I'm excited to go back. There has been a lot of talk about the weather, because it seems to be quite cold in those parts. It will be intriguing because, apart from testing, we have never raced in very cold conditions. We just have to hope it doesn't snow! It's a nice track, even if there isn't one section that stands out from the others. It's interesting, there are a couple of slow chicanes and also high speed chicanes. The first corner can be a bit complicated, especially on the first lap, as you brake downhill and with a fair slope. There are different ways to deal with it and we need to find a good trajectory."

Finally, conclusion on the performance of the single-seater: “Regarding the performance of our car for this weekend, we saw some encouraging signs in Russia and if we continue in this way, we have the chance to do well. Let's just hope the weather doesn't affect us. The other teams in the central group are very competitive, but we are always in the mix. I was surprised to hear the news of Honda's farewell to F1 at the end of next year. On a human level I'm very sorry, because I get along well with their engineers. And it is also disappointing from a professional point of view, because they have worked hard to give us the best possible engine and we have seen that the results, so far, have been excellent. The Honda guys are really focused and I'm sure they will keep pushing until their last day on track."
