Webber to Porsche with a five-year contract?

Mark Webber would have signed a five-year contract to race with Porsche at Le Mans starting in 2014. Radio Le Mans announced it, citing sources from the paddock of the Chinese GP in Shanghai, where the 36-year-old from Red Bull enjoyed a weekend nightmare.

“There is a test scheduled for Le Mans and Mark Webber will certainly not be running,” however, a Porsche spokesperson told the AAP agency.

“In the future we may have some F1 drivers but not necessarily” added the spokesperson.

“Webber no longer has faith in his bosses,” writes Die Welt correspondent Simon Pausch. “And who can blame him?”

But team boss Christian Horner denied the hypothesis of any boycott against the Australian: "It's nonsense."

Helmut Marko added: “We don't build a car worth millions of euros and then deliberately sabotage it.”

Mercedes' Niki Lauda also agreed: “No sane person would intentionally screw a wheel nut wrong. The cars go at 320 km/h here and if a wheel flies, it's a matter of life or death."
