Sauber in favor of budget cap in F1
According to Monisha Kalternborn, the spending limit would make F1 more lively
Sauber has expressed its support for the idea of capping the budgets of Formula 1 teams recently launched by the boss of the premier category, Bernie Ecclestone.
“We started with the Resource Restriction Agreement (RRA), and it was an important step, but we are certainly still far from what is needed,” said Sauber CEO Monisha Kalternborn.
“Now we have to evolve, take the next step. In my vision the future should tend towards a sort of ceiling on budgets under which teams can do what they want, because we all have different approaches. Looking at our team, for example, it has either a good infrastructure and a good wind tunnel, so it would allow us to benefit from that. Others have other strong points. In general I think it would make Formula 1 more interesting, teams would be forced to adopt different strategies and different approaches to business and sport."
