US GP, Sauber: the negative season continues

Race without any ring that of Clean. The Swiss team concluded the United States GP with Marcus Ericsson in 14th position e Felipe Nasr right behind in 15th, both drivers tried the one-stop strategy but unfortunately the latter didn't pay off.

Marcus Ericsson – 14th: “I had a good start and after the first lap I was in thirteenth position. The start of the race was very tough with some really good fights. On the soft tires I had a decent pace, after which we decided to take a risk and try the one-stop strategy. We knew it would be difficult but I think it was the only chance for us to try and get some points. Therefore my second stint was very long and therefore it was difficult to maintain a good pace until the end. It was a decent weekend as we are making good steps in the right direction. We must continue like this in Mexico too.”

Felipe Nasr – 15th: “Since we started from the back I decided to do the first stint on the medium tyres. I did everything I could to keep the car on the track in the initial part of the race as I had little grip with this type of compound. Then, as soon as we saw the data collected, we thought about extending the stint and switching to a one-stop strategy, so I did my best to stay on the track as much as possible. In fact, thanks to this strategy I was able to recover some positions during the final part of the race.”

Monisha Kaltenborn, Team Principal: “We chose two different strategies to try to get points. The latter and also the performances of the drivers were good. The team met these difficult challenges in a solid manner. In any case we haven't scored any points yet but we are on the right path. I want to thank the whole team for their efforts.”
