Williams, Massa: “Pretty useless day”

The terrible weather conditions that characterized this first day of free practice in Melbourne did not allow Williams to carry out the work program in anticipation of Sunday's race. Valterri Bottas and Felipe Massa, in fact, racked up just a few kilometers during this morning's free practice, preferring not to risk damage to the car given the terrible conditions of the asphalt. As demonstrated by Nico Rosberg during the very first stages of free practice 2, the asphalt at Albert Park had numerous slippery areas and for this reason Williams has chosen to postpone all the work planned on the FW38 until tomorrow.

Here are the words of Felipe Massa: “There's not much to say really. There wasn't much action today as we spent all day waiting for a drier track. The objective was to work with the slicks and given the conditions we didn't want to risk damaging the car. This morning the conditions were noticeably better than in the afternoon, but in the end that's how it went. We will try to complete the entire race preparation program during free practice three tomorrow. Weather permitting, of course."

Here are Valtteri Bottas' impressions: “This wasn't the day we were hoping for due to the weather conditions, but in the end it was the same for everyone. Tomorrow is a new day and I'm sure we will learn much more than today. Today it was difficult to learn something from the car and the track, but working on a wet track is always a good thing. We will try to do our best tomorrow. It will be important to prepare well for the race and qualifying."
