Vettel: “Red Bull happy to still be in front”

Sebastian Vettel is pleased with second place on the grid at the British Grand Prix as his team showed they are still at the front despite the blown exhaust ban. Vettel took second place behind Red Bull teammate Mark Webber.

“I'm happy with the result, I think it's important to qualify at the front” declared Vettel. “It wasn't an easy session, with changing conditions. It was easy to make a mistake like Fernando in Q1, so the battle was close. There isn't much difference between the cars and with each lap you can shave something off here and there. Today we took an excellent step forward."

Vettel is happy to have put the controversy over the regulations behind him: “We remained cool. We were happy to jump in the car because we could finally focus on the important things. Tomorrow's race will be long, the tires are very important. Tomorrow we will leave a little into the unknown, but we'll see."

According to Vettel, Red Bull was not under too much pressure: “I wouldn't say the team was under too much pressure, but it was a difficult session in changing conditions. When it starts raining in different sections of the circuit it's quite difficult to see where it's wet and where it's OK. It's a shame not to have taken advantage of the second run but it's a great result for us, especially with all the chatter that preceded qualifying. It's nice to see that we are still ahead and can set good times. I'm quite happy, this circuit is difficult for the tyres, we'll see how it goes tomorrow."
