F1 | AlphaTauri, technical innovations are arriving to solve the problems of the AT04
The difficulties also continue at Silverstone
F1 AlphaTauri AT04 – Intense work at AlphaTauri to resolve the problems that are slowing down the AT04 in this first part of the 2023 season. Interviewed by the team's official website, Jody Egginton expressed his dissatisfaction with the result obtained by the team in Great Britain, specifying how the car - despite the technical innovations introduced at Silverstone - was unable to compete on an equal footing with Haas and Alfa Romeo. An obviously unsatisfactory condition which will have to push the technicians to perfect the updates on the car scheduled for the next round in Hungary.
“The race at Silverstone was very difficult, neither of the two cars had enough pace to advance, as well as fighting with the Haas and the Alfa Romeos,” said Jody Egginton, Technical Director of the Faenza team. “The race strategy was correct, with our cars divided between hard and medium compounds for the second stint, and then switching, like most of our rivals, to the soft during the Safety Car period.”
“However, we were unable to take advantage of it. The aerodynamic update we introduced here appears to be largely in line with expectations, but it wasn't enough to move us forward to Silverstone. The further aerodynamic upgrade planned for Hungary will be an important step to start solving the problem and getting back on track to achieve our goals,” he continued.
