The Renault F1 team today unveiled the R30 in front of the media at the Valencia circuit in Spain. The car is characterized by a yellow and black livery, iconic colors that made Renault famous in 1980. The team also presented the second driver Vitaly Petrov who will join Robert Kubica this season. The 25-year-old driver who competed in GP2 last season becomes the first Russian driver to race in Formula 1.

With new aerodynamic regulations, the R30 is a blend of evolution and revolution, much streamlined and attractive compared to its predecessor. In particular, the rear part of the car has been completely revised to allow greater efficiency with the two double-deck diffusers introduced for the first time last year. Changes have also been introduced to the chassis architecture to accommodate a larger fuel tank.

After unveiling the R30 and posing for the usual photos together with the starting drivers, the third driver Ho-Pin Tung and the reserve driver Jérôme d'Ambrosio, Eric Boullier, team principal, praised the team's efforts in creating the new car in time for the first test: “We worked tirelessly over the winter to ensure a good start to the season. The R30 should be a competitive, strong and reliable car, and we have opted for an aggressive development strategy throughout the season. Now we are ready for the first test and we are all anxious to see if the car will be what we think it will be.”

Both drivers Robert and Vitaly are excited to see the new car and spoke about their hopes for the season ahead: “The team has been working on the new car for a long time and it is clear that we are moving in the right direction,” he said. said Robert. “Now we just need to maximize winter testing to maintain this momentum and continue to improve the car. Our priority is to make the car easy to drive, because with the new rules we need a consistent car in a wide range of conditions.”

Vitaly Petrov added: “The new car is stunning and brings to mind all the colors of Renault's great history in the sport. I can't wait to drive the car for the first time and start working with the team.”

The Renault F1 Team will remain in Valencia until Wednesday evening to complete the first pre-session of winter testing.
