Will Red Bull's engines be called Infiniti?

The Renault engines used by the world champion team look set to be renamed "Infiniti" for the 2011 season. "Infiniti" is the most sought-after series from Japanese manufacturer Nissan, also presided over by Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn.

Rumors that Ghosn would like to link the Nissan or Infiniti brands with Formula 1 have been circulating for a few years. Now, some journalists like Jean-Louis Moncet of Auto Plus say that the Red Bull-Infiniti deal for 2011 will be announced on Tuesday, before the Geneva Motor Show. And it is believed that Ghosn himself, co-president of Nissan, will break the news.

The BBC estimates that the deal is worth at least $11 million to Red Bull, which would cover the cost of supplying the Renault engine.
