F1 Tests 2018 | Red Bull, Ricciardo: “We went well on a dry track”

The first day of winter testing, which effectively officially opened the 2018 Formula One season, ended in the name of Red Bull. In fact, the new RB14 achieved the best time of the day, set in the morning by Daniel Ricciardo.

The Australian achieved the best performance in 1'20"179, also winning the award for workaholic of the day thanks to the 105 laps completed. Ricciardo was the only one who broke the barrier of 100 laps.

"Apart from the cold it went well – said Ricciardo – . In the morning, with a dry track, we went well, then in the afternoon the conditions worsened. It's always difficult to get positive feedback with tires at these temperatures. It was still a positive day, we completed over 100 laps. We have had good feedback regarding reliability".

Continuing with his discussion, in his style, the Australian added: “The performance? It's always nice to be at the top of the timesheets, but we can't make assessments in two degrees of temperature".

Tomorrow Max Verstappen will drive the RB14 on the Montmeló track.
