F1 | Racing Bulls, Ricciardo is fourteenth: “Good sensations on the track”

Shanghai – Sprint Qualifying complicated for Racing Bulls. Despite fourteenth position, Daniel Ricciardo seems to be satisfied with the result; it will be the good feeling on the track with the car, or perhaps being ahead of teammate Yuki Tsunoda. The Japanese, in fact, appeared to be in difficulty since FP1 and managed to only manage nineteenth position. True, Ricciardo should have a new chassis on his side, but recovering in the race will not be easy for both of them.

Ricciardo: “Good sensations on the track”

“It's one of those days where P14 isn't an obvious result to get excited about, but personally I think it was a better day than expected, because this morning we got off to a good start right away and got into the Top 10. At the same time, we knew that some cars had used only one set of tires and that getting into Q3 would have been complicated. But the sensations on the track were decidedly better and this encouraged us – explains Daniel – it's not a result to be particularly ecstatic about, but in our small way it was a positive day. Looking ahead to tomorrow, the Sprint is definitely another opportunity to fight a bit. It is a circuit that allows overtaking, we will have good opportunities. So, yes: we will have two chances to race this weekend and I can't wait to do it."

Tsunoda: “I don't know what's happening, I've never struggled so much”

“I struggled in general with balance and grip from the first tests. For the Sprint Qualifying we also tried different things, but I wasn't able to put everything together. I don't know what's going on, but today certainly wasn't an easy day. It's not the weather or track conditions' fault, I wasn't able to do more. I've never struggled so much before. It's strange, but we still have some sessions to do and we will continue to collect data. Tomorrow's qualifying is very important and we hope to be able to sort things out before then. We'll see how it goes."
