Raikkonen: “Problems getting the tires to work”

Kimi Raikkonen finished eighth in qualifying for the Monaco GP but the Finn was not satisfied with the behavior of his Lotus.

Appearing very fast and very balanced, the Anglo-French car was unable to take advantage of the Supersoft tires and paid a lot compared to the leaders, Mercedes above all. “For sure we are not very happy after that session”, explained the Scandinavian. “We're a little behind where we should have been and we've been trying to chase to no avail. The car runs well, the biggest problem today was trying to get the tires to the right operating temperature, it seemed to be a bit difficult to get them to warm up".

in addition to this, there was also a driving error, a rare event for the Finnish ice racer: “I still could have been a little faster on my best lap, but I went a little too long at the Piscine. It's a little disappointing but you can't do it right every time. On a normal circuit you would be able to gain positions through overtaking, but in Monaco it is difficult. Having said that, anything can happen here, so we hope we can get something good tomorrow, perhaps with an unexpected event.", concluded the former Ferrari driver.
