Petrov could return to F1, still as a paying driver

Vitaly Petrov could return to F1, still as a paying driver. After racing for Renault and Caterham, the Russian found himself on the back foot for 2013 and his manager Oksan Kosachenko revealed he had put together a budget of as much as €25 million for a seat ahead of 2014.

Petrov did not deny the news: “I think Oksana knows more than anyone about it, it's in all the projects” he declared. “There is no comment to make. I wouldn't know what to say."

“We know that more than one team has economic problems” added the driver. “So there is a chance for pilots who can help in this area,” he added.

Petrov would be in the running for a seat at Marussia: "At the moment there's nothing new to say, but it's not a disadvantage for me if some teams wait before deciding on their drivers."
