Mercedes, Wolff: “Only the paranoid can think that we favor Nico against Lewis”

Seven races to zero are a fact, as are the reliability problems that afflicted Lewis Hamilton between China and Russia, leaving his teammate Nico Rosberg immaculate. Thoughts that are suggestions, suspicions and – right or wrong, more or less imaginative – cause discussion.

But isn't Mercedes thinking of bringing a German driver to the top of the world? The question echoes among enthusiasts, but also in the paddock, after all it would be the perfect crime. The strength of the car against that of the single standard-bearer is a pan-German triumph.

But Toto Wolff just doesn't listen to these allegations, losing part of his prophetic calm when he responds with a hard face against those who raise doubts.

“We're not joking, F1 is a serious sport - Wolff commented on the matter- We cannot stand behind certain bullshit spread by people who often sit idle in their armchairs or in bed and write. Do you really want me to believe that we would go against our two-time world champion? It's a joke…The truth is that F1 is a sport made of mechanics and failures are unfortunately part of the game. If you want to know, Rosberg also risked retiring in Russia due to problems with the MGU-K."

We cannot help but take note and believe the sincere words of Toto Wolff, to whom, however, we should explain that the repeated problems on the number 44 car are making not only the infamous keyboard conspiracy theorists suspicious (too many indeed!) but also Lewis Hamilton himself, who appeared at Sochi is more gloomy and melancholy than usual.
